It has antioxidant properties that are essential in the fight against free radicals and is considered by many to be a powerful aphrodisiac. According to legend, the Aztec emperor Montezuma offered Hernando Cortés some vanilla-flavored chocolate, convincing the Spanish conqueror to take it with him to his homeland and making its flavor known to the entire Old Continent.
